OUR HISTORY
Scott & Ritter, Inc. has deep roots in Kentucky’s construction landscape. Originally part of Scotty’s Contracting, Inc.—a company established in 1972—our utility division branched out as a standalone entity in 1982. This new venture was formed through a partnership between Jim Scott and utility division manager Larkin Ritter, laying the foundation for what would become Scott & Ritter, Inc. In 1988, Larkin assumed full ownership, bringing a personal vision and hands-on leadership style that helped define our company’s culture and direction.
Since then, we’ve grown into one of the region’s most respected heavy utility contractors. While utility work remains at the core of what we do, our services have expanded significantly to include site development, grading and drainage, demolition, mechanical utilities, and customized engineering solutions. We've built long-standing relationships with public institutions, private enterprises, and municipalities—earning a reputation for delivering quality, safety, and reliability on every project.
With decades of experience and a future-focused mindset, Scott & Ritter continues to evolve while staying true to the values that shaped our beginning: integrity, innovation, and commitment to excellence.
